THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family matters. She concentrates a large portion of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property child custody battles child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions and concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their matters without needing to litigate or court involvement. In addition to mediations that are court-appointed, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who wish to avoid the litigation and court process.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases involving child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law including divorce child support, custody, and guardianships, as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to every client's need.
