THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family matters. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, divorce property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their matters without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters which involved child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law including divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a a commitment to providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
